Kızgın öfkeleri ve şiddetli kararlılıklarıyla tanınan Dark Iron dwarfları, diğer klanlarla çalkantılı bir geçmişe sahiptir. Ironforge’daki başarısız bir darbe girişimi Üç Çekiç Savaşı’nın fitilini ateşlemiş ve Dark Ironların birçoğu bir zamanlar Ateşlordu Ragnaros’un hizmetinde savaşmıştı. Bir dwarf fraksiyonu Queen-Regent Moira Thaurissan’a and içse de, diğerleri akrabalarıyla aynı safta durmayı reddetmiştir. Alliance, azerite gücünü kullanmak ve Horde’a karşı mücadelelerine yardım için birleşik bir Dark Iron klanı aramaktadır.
Shadowforge City is the capital of the Dark Iron dwarves. The city is located in the depths of Blackrock Mountain and lies above the Molten Core. The city has a famous inn, the Grim Guzzler, and is the only place in the world where you can smelt Dark Iron. Shadowforge City is in constant conflict with the Blackrock clan and their black dragon masters.
Access to the city can either be through the Dark Iron Highway, Shrine of Thaurissan, or the Manufactory. The city is divided into several named areas including the Grim Guzzler, the Domicile, the Black Vault, or the Hall of Crafting. Some parts of the city can’t be visited in-game, like the Ruby Crystalarium built by Fenella Darkvire.
Throughout the city, Dark Iron denizens are constantly working toward strengthening themselves for the ongoing war against the Blackrock Spire orcs and dragons. They work to create living stone warriors to take the Upper Blackrock Spire for themselves and their fiery master. Fire elementals are also patrolling the streets of the city.
Queen-Regent Moira Thaurissan (born Moira Bronzebeard) is the daughter of King Magni Bronzebeard of Ironforge and the widow of Emperor Dagran Thaurissan of the Dark Iron clan. As such, she is both Princess of Ironforge as well as Empress of the Dark Irons. Since the Cataclysm, Moira serves as the Dark Iron representative on the Council of Three Hammers, Ironforge’s ruling body.
An only child, Moira’s relationship with her father Magni would become strained as she reached adulthood, particularly following the death of her mother Eimear. Eventually, the princess was ambushed and captured by order of Emperor Thaurissan of the Dark Iron clan. Despite the circumstances, Moira and her captor would ultimately fall in love, and have a child — Dagran Thaurissan II.
King Magni, believing these events to be mere rumors, sent a squad on a rescue mission that resulted in Emperor Dagran’s death. Furthermore, Moira refused to return to her home. Having inherited the Dark Iron throne, Moira would steadily consolidate her power and that of what she considered her new people. After Magni’s petrification during the Cataclysm, Moira marched on Ironforge and tried to seize power, but the attempt was thwarted by the King of Stormwind Varian Wrynn and the Alliance.
Under Varian’s suggestion, the clans established the Council of Three Hammers, the new ruling body of Ironforge and the united dwarven people, with Moira representing the Dark Iron clan. She would continue to be heavily involved in Ironforge’s politics as conflict between the clans constantly threatened civil war. Since the campaign in Pandaria, the Queen-Regent has also taken a more active role in the Alliance itself, and was a prominent member of the Conclave, an order of priests that fought the demons during the third invasion of the Burning Legion. Later, she was a driving force behind the Dark Irons’ official entry into the Alliance during the Blood War.
The fiery Core Hounds hail from Firelands, once the domain of Ragnaros the Firelord. The Dark Iron favor these igneous hounds as combat mounts, as any attackers foolish enough to ignore the blazing hounds inevitably end up as charred husks.
